In today’s tutorial, we will learn Unable To Expand Virtual Disk In VMware. VMware, Inc. is an American cloud computing and virtualization technology company with headquarters in California. VMware was the first commercially successful company to virtualize the x86 architecture.

 

Backup the VM

  • Before beginning just backup the partitions that you want to Extend.
  • If you don’t need backup then skip this.

 

Check the Error

  • After a couple of research, I found the solution.
  • The main reason is Snapshots.
  • What we need to do is just Delete the all snapshots.

 

Delete All Snapshots.

  • Let’s delete the snapshots.
  • Right-click on your installed VM and go to the snapshots option.
  • Now click on the manage snapshots button.
  • It will open the Snapshots Manager console.
  • Here you will see all Snapshots that you created before.
  • Before deleting all snapshots do a short backup otherwise, you will lose all your data.
  • Now right-click the screenshots and choose to delete snapshots and children.
  • Expand Virtual Disk
  • A confirmation prompt will appear, Click on yes button to delete the snapshots.
  • Expand Virtual Disk
  • Do the same process with all snapshots, just delete all snapshots.

 

That’s it Now you can expand your disk space on your VM.
